The print screen is taken off the mainstream American hit TV show ‘American horror story’ season three. The influence upon the featured sister within the selected season led onto one of the main themes upon the film ‘Purity’; Religion, but will be initially focusing upon catholicism. Another factor to take into consideration is that religion is one of the main elements within most horror/thriller/supernatural or psychological genre of films i.e. The Conjuring(2013) which is an American supernatural horror film, distributed by Warner bros. Pictures. Within the film there is an integration of religion as a ‘priest’ comes to cleanse the house with holy objects in essence to free upon the spirits that have exorcised their presence within the house and upon particular family members; the weaker females. This is also foreshown upon numerous films i.e. Rosemary’s Baby(1968) which is a psychological horror based film, distributed by Paramount Pictures. Within this particular film the integration of religion has been foreshown within the cult based on Satanism.

The key aspects that will also be established within the film, is the sister's attire accompained by numerous holy signs; a cross-beaded  necklace, holy water etc. These particular symbols of religion connote the ideas upon how purity (The virgin Mary) and goodwill are essentially what one associates with any individual that has a connection with the church.
