American Horror Story season one establishing the characters within the first season 'murder house'

American horror story is an american anthology horror television series that was produced by  20th century fox television. The subsidiary ‘20th television’ released american horror story on the 5th october 2011 on the channel FX(USA). The show was ably received by television critics and fans mainly due to the pre established cast that were featured in ‘murder house’; Jessica Lange, Frances Conroy, and Evan Peters. Due to the success upon the first season AHS later released 5 more seasons and is already making a sixth season that will be released later on in 2016.

American horror story has sensational cast members that appear to star through out. Giving the series continuity. The occasional additional actor/actress also have been known to appear in each new season. In the various 5 seasons they have hired ‘Lady gaga’ , kathy bates(who has been in every season since season three), Denis O’hare, Chloe Sevigny and Matt Bomer. There has been a multinational appeal to the attraction that AHS has brought to both american and English television screens. As within 2011 AHS won IGN'S best TV award,  drama of the year, best direction in a drama series, bets music and best editing , best new title sequence and many others. Individual actors also won numerous awards i.e Jessica Lange won 'outstanding performance by a female actor in a drama series'.

American horror has vastly influenced the film 'purity' mainly within characters personalities. Sister Judith is based on a variety of characters; Violet Harmon who is played by Taissa Farmiga. Tasissa's character within american horror story was rather timid around new members, tended to keep herself rather distant and was seen as an outcast within social environments. Violet's personal characteristics represent sister Judith before she came to the favourable help off Father Abraham and when she leaves and is found to be situated on the streets. This is to foreshow her vulnerability  and how she appears to be mentally dysfunctional. Then when sister Judith reforms herself her character starts to reflect that of Constance Langdon played by Jessica Lange. Her character is one that presents its self as someone who has a presence within any social situation and adores her child 'Addie Langdon' who suffers from Down Syndrome and dreams of one day becoming a 'pretty girl'. Her adorement for Addie is one that suffixes over any other relationship. She appears to place men first within her life and takes a vast amount of frustration out on her daughter, However when Addie dies the truth takes over Constance and you then see how her true devotion for Addie is one that is rooted deeply within her. This is a reflection of Sister Judiths bond with her 'child' Isaac.

Violet- highlighting her social exclusion and little self worth she believes she upholds

Constance- highlighting her characters ascendancy she upholds by the mid close up of her facial expressions.

Addie- Constance daughter. Who is foreshown as innocence, fragile and almost child like

Constance- giving Addie what she had always dreamed for 'to be a pretty girl'. Constance thought this was the way to give her little girl the dream she had always longed for

Addie- the death scene that highlighted how beauty is not everything. The one thing she always longed for had killed her. This scene revealed how sorrowful Constance felt
