Father
Abraham:
Father Abraham is in his late 30’s and around the height of
5ft 10in with brown hair and a tanned complexion, these features are accompanied
by his piercing stare and the aura of dominance he exudes regardless of the company
he is in. He is manipulative of Sister Judith and calculating in the manner he
gets rid of her to stop him from being incriminated in his crime. He takes a
particular enjoyment in her rejection from the church after her impregnation by
him, of which she does not try to incriminate him due to his formal position
and social influence within the church.
The character
of Father Abraham is inspired from Hannibal and several other characters.
His mannerisms have largely’ been lifted from Mads Mikkelsen’s portrayal in the
television series ‘Hannibal’, particularly his piercing stare and detached but
earnest nature. Moreover, I admire a scene in the 2006 film ‘No country for old
men’ popularly known as ‘What’s the most you’ve ever lost on a coin toss?’ for
its tension and suspense. Within our film we hope for Father Abraham to emulate
and capture the performance of the film’s antagonist ‘Anton Chigurh’.
Anton Chigurh aloof and tense nature as well as the facial expression, shown as the image for this clip, initially formulated the idea for the character of Father Abraham.
