Distribution - deciding what type of release the film is given, how many screens it will be shown on, which countries the film will be screened in and when it will be released. If the film is available online then it will be digital distribution.
The Walt Disney Company
In 2014 TWDC made over $48 billion USD. This company is a conglomerate as it owns over 100 companies known as subsidiaries. This level of ownership is beneficial for TWDC as once Walt Disney Studios produces a film it can use other companies to market the films in magazines or on TV for example. Although it would be brilliant to have TWDC as a distributor we need to be realistic. One reason why we can not do this is because it is a small independent film therefore smaller subsidiaries would be easier access and more beneficial to us. Secondly another reason is that TWDC do not make that many films for our chosen target audience as most of their films are for children and young adults (or big kids).
Warp Films
Warp films is an independent film production company based in Sheffield and London, UK. With further affiliated companies in Melbourne, Australia.
Warp films is known for releasing more unusual and innovative films such as This is England and Four Lions which would appeal to a more niche audience.
A company like this one would be good for us to distribute our film on as it is local to us and easy access. Also it gives us the opportunity to get our film out to people in the local area and get their opinion before putting it out to the wider world.
