Production Logos
A production logo, vanity card, vanity plate, or vanity logo is a logo used by movie studios and television production companies to brand what they produce. Production logos are usually seen at the beginning of a theatrical movie or video game (an "opening logo"), or at the end of a television program or TV movie (a "closing logo").
Many production logos have become famous over the years, such as the 20th Century Fox's monument and searchlights, Paramount Picture's mountain, Universal Studio's spinning globe, Columbia Pictures's personification of Columbia, MGM's Leo the Lion, and Walt Disney Pictures' fantasy castle. Unlike logos for most other media, production logos can take advantage of motion and synchronized sound, and almost always do.
Making our logo
For our production logo obviously it had to be something that hasn't been previously made that looks professional so I decided to try and create a logo.
There was a lot of different designs to choose from however the logo itself needs to show what genre of film it could possibly be. If we had a logo that had children's images on then it will totally go against the idea of us making a horror film. Whereas if we were to have more of a mainstream image then it will portray to the demographic what genre the film possibly could be.
Firstly I chose to pick the eagle as the first one we could choose from. This is because the eagles are represented as very strong animals. Because of their powerfulness people may see them as a threat and/or be scared of the. I thought that an eagle would be a great idea to have as our logo as it is a very well known animal and also is presented as dangerous. This could fore board to our audience that it is a horror film and that the company unlike Disney do not make children-friendly films.
Secondly the green tree is the second logo idea that I chose. This was because I felt like woods and trees are a well known image of horror. This is again, symbolism to our audience that it is in fact going to be a horror film.
Finally the last logo that I found for in my top three was a general logo that you would more than likely find a production company having. Due to the film paper above the writing. This could show that the production company make films for not only over 15's but for all ages. This therefore could make our production company appear to have a wider demographic as appose to other companies.
I used the words DLCC as that is each of our initials and I felt that we needed some part of us to be within the production logo. This order of letters also does sound very well rolling off the tongue and is relatively easy to remember therefore I felt like it was a good combination and good name to have for our company.
