Media evaluation - What kind of media institution might distribute your media product and why? (question 3)
Warp films would have been the most appropriate media institution to distribute our film as they are an independent film production company known for releasing more unusual and innovative films such as 'Four lions', 'Submarine' and 'This is England'.
Though the film would still be shot on a low budget they, importantly, give film makers the opportunity to make challenging and thought provoking films that start conversations, we feel our film mirrors 'Four lions' and 'This is England' in that respect. Moreoever, we were particurarly impressed by the mise en scene and cinematography of 'Submarine', specifically, the lighting, colour and range of shots that highlighted the facial expression and body language of the actors.
If one of the 'Big 6' production companies got behind our film there is the possibility that it could be a psychological horror comparable to 'The Silence of The Lambs'. However, we feel this is unlikely and though we get a large budget we would have to change certain elements to attract the widest possible demographic in order to, at the very least, recuperate production costs. For example, the homosexual affair would probably be omitted and the film would fall into the broad category of horror with a supernatural element. Furthermore, Father Abraham would probably be a heroic character to save the 'damsels in distress' as large films are often characterised by 'good vs evil'.
