Question 3.

What kind of media institution might distribute your media product and why?

Unfortunately I believe that The Big 6 would be unable to distribute our films. The big 6 includes Disney, Warner Bros, Universal, Paramount, 20th Century Fox and Columbia and from researching into the films in which these companies produce I believe that none of them would be a suitable distributer. For example Disney's films which are produced are aimed mainly at the demographic of families, our film sadly is a 15. Secondly another factor that would effect using a company from The Big 6 is the cost that it would be to distribute it. Disney for example in 2014 made over $48 billion USD. This company is a conglomerate as it owns over 100 companies known as subsidiaries, this level of ownership is beneficial for TWDC as once they produce a film they are able to use other companies to market their film, such as in magazines or on TV. Despite it being brilliant to have a big company like this one to distribute our film we needed to be realistic and look into smaller and independent film companies.

Warp films however is an independent film production company based in Sheffield and London UK, with further affiliated companies in Melbourne, Australia. This film company is known for releasing more unusual and innovative films such as Four Lions directed by Chris Morris. These types of films appeal to a more niche audience. After researching about different possible film distributers I came to the conclusion that Warp films would be the most beneficial as it is local to us and easy access as appose to the Big 6 as they all are in America. Another factor on how it would benefit us is that it would be a lot cheaper as appose to film companies such as Universal.
