Question 4.

Who would be the audience for your media product?

The target audience for my media project range from the age of 15 and upwards due to mature themes and actions within my narrative. Narrowed down this film is aimed for males or females whom enjoy physiological thrillers and horrors. This type of genre I believe is suitable to be watched by the ages 15 and up as the plot of these types of films can be very complex to understand. To help us choose the target audience me and my group handed out multiple questionnaires to friends in our college to get their input on what demographic and age we should put our film out to. Listening to more peoples opinions helped us come to the conclusion that we came to.

After this I went around my family and friends asking them what type of genre do they like to watch within the film industry. Most of my family liked comedy however one family member and two other people in my life explained they like psychological thrillers and horrors. When further questioning these people my boyfriend Gabriel explained to me that the reason why he likes psychological thrillers and horrors is because it feels like you are there experiencing it with the characters. To portray this feeling therefore in our film we decided to use a lot of POV shots and filmed some parts by hand with a camera to give it more of a realistic feeling towards it. An example is at the pond when SM looks down at her child however as an audience we don't know if the child is real or not.

Am example of a film which includes a similar type of narrative which i researched was "Mama". This film also has a similar type of plot to ours however the children in Mama are thought to be imagining someone they refer to as "Mama". This film includes a lot of POV shots to help the audience ask the certain question, is the figure imaginary or real? From this in our film we included a lot of POV shots to involve our audience more and make them question our film also.
