What kind of media institution might distribute your media product and why? 

Our Media product would likely be distributed by a small independent company. When doing research into our product I looked at many different companies that could possibly distribute our product.  Many of them were influenced by films that influenced out own. However most of these I didn’t believe where suitable for our film due to various reasons such as they were main stream companies or they didn’t realise many films of a similar genre to our own.

I think that our product should be distributed by a smaller company. This is due to the fact that our product is of a specific audience. Main stream companies such as Universal studios are not the right type of company to realise out product. While they do realise horror’s from time to time they are mostly well known for their big block buster hits.

It’s also likely that wouldn’t be for the main streams populations taste therefore because of the specific audience type, those who like psychological thrillers and horror films such as Good Night Mommy and The boy.

It’s likely that our product would be distributed by a horror or thriller specific independent film company.  This is due to many things, our film doesn’t have a huge budget and it doesn’t really need one there are a minimal amount of things that needed to be purchased in order to film. However if out film had been funded by a bigger company more special effects could off been added in order to make improve emersion.  

Smaller and new companies such as STX Entertainment are the type of studio that would be good to release our product. This is a fairly new American company made in 2014. They have recently realised a few thriller films such as one film that inspired aspects of our product, The Boy. Therefore this would fit our product pretty well and would be a good distributor for us.
